The importance of dog exercise has been proven a necessity to our pet dogs as much as humans need it too. So if we think it is enough that we feed them properly, provide their basic needs, and give them “occasional” walks, we are very wrong. Generally, a dog needs plenty of exercise. The bigger the dog, the more he has to. In addition, if you think you cannot give your dog a good exercise on a daily basis, maybe you should also find another pet to take care of.
What are the benefits of giving adequate exercise to your dogs? Well it could make them healthier and happier at the same time. Happier in terms that, this gives you more opportunity to have bonding moments with your dog. Another thing is they become more social especially in public places and will be calmer at home and less restless when left alone.

However, how much exercise does your dog needs? The answer would depend on three factors including the age, size, and type of breed. When it comes to age, the younger ones require daily exercise. This will help them to properly develop their muscles and release energy in order to moderate its level. Not being able to release this energy will lead the dogs to destructive behaviors such as chewing or digging. The mature ones, on the other hand needs lesser for they possess lower energy levels compared to the younger ones.
Size does not really specify the amount of exercise your dog needs. Many larger breeds would just sit and relax all day rather go out and run. Still, they would need their daily exercise. A one or two 30-minute daily walks will do.
Lastly, but not the least, would be the type of your dog’s breed. For example, dogs that were bred to herd like Border collie, German shepherd, and Australian Cattle Dog or originally bred to hunt like the Beagle, Retriever, and German Hunt Terrier, requires daily exercise. While sled dogs like the Siberian husky, Samoyed, and Alaskan malamute also needs to be exercised on a regular basis for they possess the same high-level energy with that of herding and hunting dogs.
Maybe this article would prove that exercise is beneficial for anyone who does it on a regular basis, whether human or animals, both needed physical activities in order to use up the energy stored in our bodies and thus help in our normal body circulation.

Horse owners should be prepared at all cost especially for medical emergencies. Whether you are the calm or panicking type, it is a strong recommendation that your stable gear has an equine emergency kit in it, just like a first aid kit in your own home. However, how does it differ with the latter? Let us enumerate the items that should be included in our kit.
For the kit itself, we could use a sturdy box with a good fitting clasp and a handle, something like a fishing tackle box will do. Write down the items contained in your kit in alphabetical order as well as their expiration dates, so if an emergency comes, you would not be in a panic to think or to find what are the items inside your kit.
Items that should present include the following:
pack cotton gauze wraps
gauze squares
cotton sheet leg wraps
flannel wraps
unscented sanitary pads which are useful for wound dressings
vet wrap for proper bandaging
splint material such as a PVC pipe, towels, cold packs, duct tapes, horse blanket or a cooler to help animals in shock
thermometer
a stethoscope if possible and if you know how to use it
2 pairs of scissors (one with a wide blunt end and the other, small and pointed)
Forceps
Tweezers
Flashlight
wire cutters
wound wash
ointments for different wounds
insect repellents
rubbing alcohol to act as disinfectant
poultices
electrolytes
epsom salts for hoof pain
hoof pick
shoe puller
syringes with different sizes so you’ll have one for various uses
Mentioned above will help the horse owner apply first aid to their pets in time of need that is why making sure of its supply is important to avoid unwanted events in the future. Other items can also be added depending on the horse owner’s desire.

Cat Urinary Tract Infection or UTI is something that should not be laughed at. As serious as human cases, it was said to be caused not only by bacteria but also by numerous physical factors, and some of these are; first, the high ash content found on dry pet food. These commercial foods are made with undesirable remnants from the human food industry. In the US, majority of the states allows the producers to use dying, diseased and disabled slaughterhouse animals. Then it was found out that this meat could be cancerous and sometimes high in hormones. In addition, the high sugar content of these pet foods affects the pancreas and adrenal glands. Using corn syrup inhibits the growth of useful intestinal bacteria while other ingredients that are used to retain proper food texture and longer shelf life may be full of carcinogens.
Another factor is stress; because our pets depend on their owners for love, guidance and sustenance, whenever our emotions get out of control our pets are affected. It somehow creates a huge impact on them without us being able to notice it. These effects may be behavioral, may exacerbate existing health problems, or may just develop illness due to anxiety.

How would you know if your cat already has UTI? Well the signs are obvious; one of these is when your cat is straining to urinate, passes only small amounts of urine and your pet experiences pain in doing so. You may also see blood mixed in your cat’s urine while it is scattered outside the litter box.
Now, the question is how do we prevent this to happen to our cats? A natural and healthy diet will do and a kind loving home that is very considerate on the pet’s emotional and physical well-being. A clean shelter for them would be very helpful. Also, give your cats their needed supplements to maintain the right balance of vitamins and minerals. Giving them wet cat food is also highly recommended. Given your cat is already infected; giving them antibiotics would be the cure available to you. However, of course, it would still be better if you will bring your cat to a veterinarian.

To keep the horses on their best, a proper nutrition and worm removal are important. When you say nutrition, it means providing the food and water that it need.

Water is very important to horses. Hydration sometimes slipped the minds of those who are assigned on the horses hence causing death due to dehydration. But for those who are aware of the importance of water, the next question is how clean should water be for a horse? Any water as long as it is not murky and full of dirty leaves is good. So keeping the water container clean is necessary. Maintaining a good drinking water for your horses is not a walk in the park, particularly those who have a tight budget. But keeping a good system helps a lot. Simple task like keeping the bucket out of the floor by hanging it can keep away contaminants like food and dust. Removal of hay, leaves at least twice a day from the buckets will keep the water safe for horse drinking. Scheduled scrubbing and cleaning of water tanks is a good practice as well.

Providing good quality hay is another important great health contributor. When buying hay, paying attention is important. You can do a random testing on the hay by using your eyes and nose. Evaluation is very critical when buying the hay. Be aware of dust and molds. You can test it by smelling the hay. If it is soft to touch and green and fine-stemmed, then you are in a good buy. Obvious trash and dirt mixed in the hay should make you reconsider buying. You can ask the supplier for any problems in the area that is hay-related. Although good hay is one way to go for a healthy horse, a veterinarian can help you on the diet required for a horse of specific age. Armed with the diet for your horse, you can ask a certified laboratory to determine the nutrients of the hay. Most important of all, keep the hay in good condition by storing it in a dry area of the shelter and must be consumed the shortest possible time.

There are horse owners who prefer investing on horse pasture. If you have the budget, this is a better solution to your feeding program than buying hay.

The feeding program should be backed up by the removal of worms and pest that sometimes plagued horses. A good parasite management program with the help of your veterinarian can keep the horse healthy. There are several pests that you need to recognize to come up with a good management program. Bloodworms, roundworm, pinworms, bots, summer sores and threadworms are the common suspects that can hurt horse. Deworming against these pests should be part of the control program that you will be crafting. You can administer the deworming process without the help of your veterinarian but a veterinarian can help you in purchasing the right dewormer for your horse. Summer sores can be prevented early by having a sound manure management program that can keep fly away from the stables.

Although this is not the direct part of the daily maintenance of a horse wellness, a good shelter for your horse is very important. As an owner, you should know the basics on shelter and the housekeeping that comes with it. Since you will be spending time there most of your horse riding sessions, it is important that you keep the shelter safer and convenient. There are three important factors to consider when building a shed: location, size and building.

Shed Construction. The shed must be located on areas that will ensure the safety of your horse. Trees that might fall on the shelter should be avoided. Wind, weather conditions must guide you on how you will position the shelter. It will determine where the closed side of the shelter should be facing to avoid winds and rain from coming into the shed. The horse should have a properly ventilate shelter since molds and dust can cause sickness to the animals. Location should be convenient for the transport of water and food supplies of your horses. Although there will be stable hands assigned on the area, minimizing the time to transport this makes housekeeping easier and efficient to those maintaining the quarter.

Mud control starts in the construction by choosing the location of your shed away from wetlands or streams. Although it looks convenient for the water supply, it is a great mud problem contributor. Why is mud control important? Mud can cause horse the medical issues that will cost you more than installing few mud control devices such as installation of good drainage system.

Shed Size. The basic of size planning is the number of horses that you will be keeping there. Ventilation is an issue as well but the most important is the comfort and flexibility of the area. If you will be keeping many horses, the horse herd hierarchy should be taken into account when considering height and width of the horse living quarters. The height should be enough to keep the horses from hitting his head and air to circulate around. The area should provide ample space for horses to move around comfortably. Allowance for more aggressive horses can be accomplished by coming up with a larger structure. As a rule of the thumb, a 12 feet by 12 feet for one horse can be used, and eight feet for the minimum height.

Building of the Shed. When building shed, the building code is the most basic ruler for your horse housing since you will be dealing with building codes and permits. Bracing your shed is important for large ones since smaller structure does not require one. If you will be having a large shed, ensure that you avoid the square posts that might hurt the horses.

Think of wet-free and clean shed when building. A gutter can improve the maintenance of the shed mainly because gutter keeps not only water from coming in but also the snow that drifts into the entrance during winter season.

A fire will always be a threat to any property. Ask your local fire department for suggestions. Faulty wires can be prevented by asking a qualified electrician to check the shed. Flammables should be kept in areas that cannot be triggered by heat and fire. Assign an area to place this stuff. A fire retardant to coat the wood materials of the shed is a good investment.

Some people have always wanted to have their own horse. The interest might have been triggered by different factors: love for animals, sports and social status. The desire on owning one requires not only the financial aspect to do the actual purchase but a long time obligation of taking care of the horse’s need.

As a future owner of the horse, it is important to understand that the basic care of horse is not merely providing food and shelter. It involves different task that might be not only require daily grooming and exercising but will also involve more expenses than the paid amount for the buying the horse. The horse owner does not need to be the one who will do the job, of course. But budget should be prepared for the entire stay of the horse in your ward as an owner.

One of the most important things to know when buying a horse is the rider. Who will be the rider of the horse that you will buy will determine not only the amount you have to prepare for the expenses and the time that you will be providing care to the animal. This is important because horses are not pets that can be bought by the color of its fur or its age. Factors such as whether the rider has any experience around horses can have a significant role on your buying decision. It should also be taken into account the geographical issues like taxes when buying and legality of keeping the horse on a particular area.

What do you need to know and do can be provided by experts on horses. These are the trainers and veterinarians who can provide you with professional advices. The trainers can give input on what type of horse is suitable for your need or the one who will be riding it. Sometimes they can also give information on where to find sellers. The vets can give you good decision- making points on the health and expectations on horses when choosing one. He can also conduct the pre-buying examination for your horse of choice. The doctor will tell al provide say what are the other things that owners should know aside from the following health related needs:

Regular visits to the vet

Parasite removal

Required shots

Emergency supplies

Do not limit yourself on professionals. Your own network might help you on the process of finding the perfect horse that you need. It is always helpful to get words around. This will not only expand your choices but will also speed up your buying process.

After gathering important information that can help you on buying, a list should be crafted as your guide. It should be your guide during the process of purchasing:

Upkeep. How much will be needed to keep the horse and where.

Buying or sharing? It is be another option to buying. There are instances that instead of buying, a horse can be loaned to you for a certain period of time.

Maintenance. The upkeep is one issue to tackle but there will be everyday issues that you have to handle. One of this is the food supply. Having a supplier near the area of stable will reduce your expenses.

Medical visits. A reputable veterinarian even before the day you bring home your prized horse is a good investment.

Horse ownership requires big investment. A good planning is needed so that you will not end up shorthanded in your purchase. A good plan and network can be your best guide on finding your suitable horse.

Adopting a dog is a nice way of caring an animal in a way of a pet. Before finally selecting a dog to adopt, numerous things should be taken into consideration first. These include things like the kind of lifestyle a potential owner has, whether he or she has a yard or not, have kids or not, and many more.

The first to consider is your family members like your kids’ age if you have any. One must remember that kids below seven are not suitable for puppies that are 5 months old and below or those puppies that are of the size of a 15 pounds toy regardless of their age. With the 5 months and below puppies, they will tend to scratch your kids with their sharp milk teeth and toenails, resulting for your pet to be feared of rather than loved. The toy-sized puppies on the other hand are fined-boned, touch-sensitive and normally break easily.

On the other end of the line, household with physically challenged members must not have strong, robust, and vigorous type of dogs, as it has more physical requirement than what they can afford to provide.

The next important thing to consider is about who will to take care of your pet dog. With the current lifestyle that e have, every adults are leaving the house for work and the kids are off to school the whole day, your dogs will now be left nowhere. It is important that before getting a family pet dog, every family member must talk about it carefully. Kids can be excited to take care of it, but in the end as they grow and changes lifestyle, there will be a tendency that they will have other priorities than taking care of the dog. Extensive research and family member polling is one of the best things to do before going into a final decision.

After considering your family members and your dog’s caretakers, it is now time for you to consider about the amount of time and money that you can spend to your pet dog. When it comes to money, the amount of money you spent to purchase your dog is only a portion of the thousands of dollars that you might spend by the time that you have your pet dog with you. Expenses that you might spend for your dog include the veterinary care, training crate, obedience classes, foods especially if you chose to have a giant breed, grooming if you have those breed that have fancy coats like poodles, cockers, and shih tzus. Chew toys are also important for you vigorous chewers pet dogs like the bull terrier or the mastiff. An outerwear is an important outfit for breeds with shorter coats like greyhounds, Chihuahuas, and whippets. Also, include in your necessary pet dog expenses items like bowls, beds, brushes, shampoos, and more.

Other than money, your dog will also need your precious time like any other members in your household. Dogs also need time for exercising, bonding, training, and more.

Your cat are already spent so much time for their grooming, but it will be more rewarding if you will help them do the grooming to make them look even better. Through good grooming you are giving your cat the chance to reduce shedding, increased opportunity for bonding, and as the owner, you can easily detect any physical problems like fleas, ticks, or tumors. However, what are needed for your cat’s grooming?

Moistened wipes are an important thing that your cat grooming kit must have. This will not only keep your cat clean between baths, but also, it is perfect for cleaning and wiping off mud on your cat paws on a rainy day.

A perfect brush is also another important thing you must have for your cat’s grooming. A good brush will keep your cat’s fur from matting and it will reduce excess shedding as well. Just like the human hair, your cat’s coat will be shinier with frequent brushing.

Using a glooming glove is also recommended when you give your cat a good and relaxing massage or when you are in the mood of removing your cat’s loose hair. Using a glove will protect you and your cat from possible harm.

An eye and ear wash is also another important thing your cat grooming kit must contain. For your cat’s eye and ear care, you can consult your vet for the best eye and ear wash for your pet cat.

Just like us, our pet cats also needs proper dental care, for as they grow older is when they will experience dental problems. This is when they will most likely to experience broken teeth, inflamed gums, periodontal disease and cavities. Listed below are a few of the many things to remember in taking care of your pet cat’s teeth.

An annual check-up to your vet is a sure fire in keeping your cat free from dental problems. It is a normal move of almost all vets to put your cat under anesthesia to conduct an examination on their teeth. This examination lets the vet know any teeth related issue on your cats including any broken or missing teeth, decay, or halitosis. If any of these issues are detected, it will be your prerogative if you will take care of it at home or not.

Aside from going to the vet, you can also check your pet’s teeth on your own. Simply pull back your cat’s lip carefully and examine thoroughly of any signs of damage teeth, yellowish or brownish build up, reddish or irritated gums.

One can also purchase a cat specialized toothbrush and toothpaste from their nearest pet store and start brushing your pet’s teeth in as early as they are still kittens, for it will be more easy for them to get used to it. However, older cats are can also easily adjust if you will do it as a routine.

Protect your cats from tartar as if it starts to accumulate, it will cause irritation, inflammation, or bleeding along your pet’s gum line. You can reduce your cat’s tartar by feeding with a balanced diet of hard and soft or canned foods. You can also give them some crunchy treats and toys like a sisal rope ball as it will be of great help in eliminating the buildup of plaque and tartar.

Now, if you are up for a challenge, you can also rinse your cat’s mouth, but not should work as a substitute for brushing. This act is recommended for older cats with an existing dental problem.

If in some cases you feel like your cat has serious dental problem, contact your vet immediately.

It is important to take note that when brushing your cat’s teeth, it would be better if you will brush several teeth at first and increase by time, but make sure that you are brushing them all after 14 days. If ever you have a hard time do the brushing daily, you can do it twice a month, as this is also acceptable. Cat owners must also be reminded that at age 2, 90 percent of them are already suffering from periodontal disease and human toothpaste must not be used.

It is important that as a pet owner, you must be very vigilant on their health especially when it comes to teeth problems. One must not ignore any teeth related issue, as it may lead into serious health problems.
