Flea Collars: This works by emitting toxic gas. It is mostly effective in areas like neck and head. Flea collars are best when used in vacuum cleaner bags. Flea collars also work in another way by getting absorbed into the subcutaneous fat layer of the animal. This procedure is more effective than the previous one. The only draw back of flea collars is that they are good for killing adult fleas.

Flea Dips: Flea dips not only save your pet from fleas but mites and ticks as well. But the use of flea dip is not recommended until absolutely needed. The effect of flea dips last nearly one to two weeks because the chemical residue works on your pet’s skin for quite a long time. But flea dips are used to control adult fleas and not eggs and larva.

They offer short term protection. They are mostly effective only for adult fleas but some of them inhibit flea egg as well as larva development.

Oral Medication: As an alternative to the flea control products for cats, you can choose flea pills. If it seems difficult to make your pet have the pills they also come as injectable medication. This medication is not only good for adult fleas but it also breaks the entire flea life cycle saving your pet from further attack.
