It is important to properly take a urine sample to avoid contamination of the sample used for a test called urinalysis. Make sure your veterinarian using a sterile syringe to take a urine sample, which is inserted directly into the bladder (called cystocentesis). This process is safe and has no side effects incatsthey are calm. Samples are collected from a table, a container, etc.. not sterile, and therefore can introduce bacteria into the process. Other sources of error are delays in the laboratory, where bacteria can double in a hot urine sample every 40 minutes.

Hyperesthesia syndrome in cats. The aggression of the cat is due to the tenderness, may appear to have no identifiable cause and the attack is known as “idiopathic.” In most cases, however, the cats have a very good reason to attack (based on the sensitivity of the kitten).

The hyperesthesia syndrome first appeared in cats in a 1 to 4 years of age and cats Oriental type (Siamese, Burmese, Himalayan and Abyssinian) seem to have the greatest impact. There are three types of behavioral patterns associated with hyperesthesia syndrome.

The cats may have affected “skin rolling” along the back excessively and enjoy your own tail and lower back. In extreme cases, the cat will self-mutilate attacks with its tail.

Inexplicable aggression is the second pattern. The cats seem friendly, and to attract attention, then launched a furious attack. This is explosive, the cats tolerate attention initially and at any moment become aggressive.

The final pattern presented by the veterinary literature are seizures . Some researchers believe that stress triggers that cause attacks psychomotor behaviors. Other researchers believe that stress triggers panic attacks and obsessive / compulsive. When hyperesthesia syndrome is suspected is a series of neurological examinations the veterinarian advises.

Stop Episodes

If you can identify and avoid stressors that can trigger hyperesthesia syndrome should be avoided. Some cats may be startled with excessive attention or a sudden unexpected noise, such as clapping or hitting a newspaper against a table.

The cats also may respond to medication for seizures or anxiety and antidepressants that act on the human brain cat to apply brakes behavior.

When cats become a nice problem, cat behavior problem. The kittens are charming and adorable at times become gatos adorable and charming, with problems.

Do you have a catsometimes forget that there is a box sand? Here is a summary of the behavioral problems that can lead to cat owners. See what you can do if your cats hows any of these behaviors.

Avoiding the sandbox

One in 10catsdevelops a problem with the litter box. Often it is because thecatprefer a different kind of place to relieve himself or do not like the box. Boxes without perfume in a box in the open, and clean at least once a day seems to work well for most cats. They also prefer the places may be withheld. Try to use more than one box and try different litters. Then watch to see that theircatpreferred.

Urine marking

The urine marking is ascatstry to communicate when seeking a sexual partner or trying to avoid conflicts. Unless you are looking for a partner, acatusually not spray anything if he feels safe. But if there are conflicts with other cats, othercatsat home, or changes in routine, is more likely to mark their territory.

Having acatsterilized and address what is causing the stress are the first steps to resolve the problem. The cleaning of areas with an enzyme product will discouragecatspraying there again. There pheromone dispenserscatsmay reduce this behavior. Somecatsmay need medication for anxiety, so talk to your vet if the problem persists.

Destructive fingernails

Allcatslike to sharpen their nails. They do it to play, stretch, sharpen claws, unfortunately, so itscatlike scratching includes furniture, carpets and curtains. Protect yourhomeby placement of a variety of tissues scratching posts with different grades and surfaces around your home. Make sure they are strong so they will not fall when used. Then invite yourcatto explore scented with catnip or toys hanging from them.

Cat and dog fleas are one of the most common pests which can bother your pet. This short guide will help you spot and deal with the problem. One way to help keep your cat or dog happy is to keep it free of fleas. You’ll also be doing yourself a favour because the longer fleas have to settle in unnoticed, the harder it is to be rid of them. And while cat and dog fleas prefer their host creatures, they’re also capable of biting humans, potentially infecting you or your family with unpleasant illnesses.

As with so many pest problems, prevention is better than cure when it comes
to dealing with fleas. Unfortunately, it can be hard to prevent your pet from
being exposed to infection if it comes into contact with other animals, or simply enters an area that has previously been visited by a flea-infected pet.

This means it’s important that you keep an eye open for the symptoms
of a possible flea infection. One sign is an increase in your cat or dog scratching itself. In most animals, flea bites cause minor irritation which the animal will scratch at from time to time. The head, neck and tail are the areas most commonly affected.

However, your pet could be one of the small number who are allergic to flea
bites. If it is, one single bite can cause severe itching, which your pet will
continually scratch at or even attempt to bite.

How the check your pet for fleas

Combing through fur should reveal evidence of infection, even to the inexperienced eye. An adult flea is between 1.5mm and 3mm in length. If they are present, combing will dislodge flea faeces, which is effectively dried blood.

Carrying out this combing while your pet is standing on a clean surface, or
even a white sheet, will make it easier to spot any material coming off it.

You may encounter flea eggs or larvae in your pet’s bedding. Eggs are
white and the larvae are grey, resulting in salt-and-pepper type deposits.

How to get rid of cat and dog fleas

If your pet picks up fleas you should take prompt action to remove both the
creatures themselves and their eggs.

There are a wide variety of different flea treatments available on the market,
including sprays and medicines that can be injected or swallowed. These are
effectively pesticides and many contain chemicals that can be harmful if used
incorrectly. Herbal remedies, containing only natural products, are also available.

Before using any product, read the label carefully and keep the packaging.
If you’re not sure what would be best for your pet you could consult your
vet.

Whilst treating your pet will eliminate the live fleas, you will also need
to remove their eggs and larvae from around your home. Thorough and regular vacuuming, getting right into cracks and crevices, will pick up a large number. You should also keep your pet’s bedding clean and you might also want to invest in some household pesticides.

The lifecycle of fleas

It’s helpful to understand the different stages of the flea’s life. An adult flea can lay several hundred eggs and these work their way through fur to fall from the host animal onto the ground.

The eggs hatch into larvae – tiny worm-like creatures that can move around.
Again, they are usually found on floors and in animal bedding. Eventually they pupate, forming hard cocoons inside which they transform into adult fleas.

Emerging, they latch onto a host animal and burrow through the fur to find
the skin, which they break to suck blood. They’ll stay with the host for
the rest of their life, laying eggs to begin the next generation.

Many people wonder what is the best way to fight fleas. You may have applied various flea control products with utter disappointment as the fleas come back within a week after you have used the brand new flea control product. Before you take any action against fleas you need to understand that killing the adult fleas alone doesn’t work. You need to address all stage of flea life cycle to get rid of this unwanted problem.

In case of flea control “more is better” is a misconception. This phrase can never be true when it comes to medicine and chemicals. Don’t buy a flea control product because the shop keeper has suggested it. All products are not equally good and most of them have harmful effects on the environment as well as your health. Neither is your pet (especially if it is a cat) comfortable with such products.

Check the ingredients before you buy a product and read the instructions and follow them carefully. Here are a few effective tips for flea control.

 Amazon.com Widgets

Flea Shampoos: bathing your pet with flea shampoo is a good attack on fleas. If your pet has numerous fleas visible on its body flea bathing is the immediate action that you should take. Though cats can be tough to bathe this is a good way for flea control for cats. But the problem with flea shampoo is that the effect is not long lasting. So it is a better option for those who look for an immediate remedy and plan to proceed with other remedies gradually.

Flea Collars: This works by emitting toxic gas. It is mostly effective in areas like neck and head. Flea collars are best when used in vacuum cleaner bags. Flea collars also work in another way by getting absorbed into the subcutaneous fat layer of the animal. This procedure is more effective than the previous one. The only draw back of flea collars is that they are good for killing adult fleas.

Flea Dips: Flea dips not only save your pet from fleas but mites and ticks as well. But the use of flea dip is not recommended until absolutely needed. The effect of flea dips last nearly one to two weeks because the chemical residue works on your pet’s skin for quite a long time. But flea dips are used to control adult fleas and not eggs and larva.

Flea Powders & Sprays: Flea powders and sprays also offer good protection from fleas but the problem with these products is that they don’t have a long lasting effect. They offer short term protection. They are mostly effective only for adult fleas but some of them inhibit flea egg as well as larva development.

Oral Medication: As an alternative to the flea control products for cats, you can choose flea pills. If it seems difficult to make your pet have the pills they also come as injectable medication. This medication is not only good for adult fleas but it also breaks the entire flea life cycle saving your pet from further attack.

Cat Urinary Tract Infection or UTI is something that should not be laughed at. As serious as human cases, it was said to be caused not only by bacteria but also by numerous physical factors, and some of these are; first, the high ash content found on dry pet food. These commercial foods are made with undesirable remnants from the human food industry. In the US, majority of the states allows the producers to use dying, diseased and disabled slaughterhouse animals. Then it was found out that this meat could be cancerous and sometimes high in hormones. In addition, the high sugar content of these pet foods affects the pancreas and adrenal glands. Using corn syrup inhibits the growth of useful intestinal bacteria while other ingredients that are used to retain proper food texture and longer shelf life may be full of carcinogens.
Another factor is stress; because our pets depend on their owners for love, guidance and sustenance, whenever our emotions get out of control our pets are affected. It somehow creates a huge impact on them without us being able to notice it. These effects may be behavioral, may exacerbate existing health problems, or may just develop illness due to anxiety.

How would you know if your cat already has UTI? Well the signs are obvious; one of these is when your cat is straining to urinate, passes only small amounts of urine and your pet experiences pain in doing so. You may also see blood mixed in your cat’s urine while it is scattered outside the litter box.
Now, the question is how do we prevent this to happen to our cats? A natural and healthy diet will do and a kind loving home that is very considerate on the pet’s emotional and physical well-being. A clean shelter for them would be very helpful. Also, give your cats their needed supplements to maintain the right balance of vitamins and minerals. Giving them wet cat food is also highly recommended. Given your cat is already infected; giving them antibiotics would be the cure available to you. However, of course, it would still be better if you will bring your cat to a veterinarian.

Just like us, our pet cats also needs proper dental care, for as they grow older is when they will experience dental problems. This is when they will most likely to experience broken teeth, inflamed gums, periodontal disease and cavities. Listed below are a few of the many things to remember in taking care of your pet cat’s teeth.

An annual check-up to your vet is a sure fire in keeping your cat free from dental problems. It is a normal move of almost all vets to put your cat under anesthesia to conduct an examination on their teeth. This examination lets the vet know any teeth related issue on your cats including any broken or missing teeth, decay, or halitosis. If any of these issues are detected, it will be your prerogative if you will take care of it at home or not.

Aside from going to the vet, you can also check your pet’s teeth on your own. Simply pull back your cat’s lip carefully and examine thoroughly of any signs of damage teeth, yellowish or brownish build up, reddish or irritated gums.

One can also purchase a cat specialized toothbrush and toothpaste from their nearest pet store and start brushing your pet’s teeth in as early as they are still kittens, for it will be more easy for them to get used to it. However, older cats are can also easily adjust if you will do it as a routine.

Protect your cats from tartar as if it starts to accumulate, it will cause irritation, inflammation, or bleeding along your pet’s gum line. You can reduce your cat’s tartar by feeding with a balanced diet of hard and soft or canned foods. You can also give them some crunchy treats and toys like a sisal rope ball as it will be of great help in eliminating the buildup of plaque and tartar.

Now, if you are up for a challenge, you can also rinse your cat’s mouth, but not should work as a substitute for brushing. This act is recommended for older cats with an existing dental problem.

If in some cases you feel like your cat has serious dental problem, contact your vet immediately.

It is important to take note that when brushing your cat’s teeth, it would be better if you will brush several teeth at first and increase by time, but make sure that you are brushing them all after 14 days. If ever you have a hard time do the brushing daily, you can do it twice a month, as this is also acceptable. Cat owners must also be reminded that at age 2, 90 percent of them are already suffering from periodontal disease and human toothpaste must not be used.

It is important that as a pet owner, you must be very vigilant on their health especially when it comes to teeth problems. One must not ignore any teeth related issue, as it may lead into serious health problems.
